Why It’s Important to Hire Specialist International Accountants for Fintech Businesses
The fintech landscape is highly regulated and globally interconnected, with companies often managing transactions, customers, and investors in multiple jurisdictions. Hiring specialist international accountants for fintech businesses ensures that your tax, reporting, and compliance obligations are handled correctly, keeping your operations secure and scalable across borders.
From reporting cross-border payments and filing for multiple group entities to claiming R&D relief in the company tax return, a US-UK tax specialist for fintech companies provides the expertise needed to navigate the complex intersection of technology, finance, and international tax reporting. Without specialist preparation, fintech firms risk double taxation, compliance penalties, or missed claims for R&D and investment reliefs.
At US UK Tax Experts, we simplify international accounting for fintech companies. Our experienced international accountants for fintech handle reporting, tax returns, and compliance filings with precision, ensuring that your business meets both U.S. and U.K. tax filing requirements accurately and on time. We manage the complexity, so you can focus on innovating the future of finance.
What we handle for you
The filings this sector needs most, on both sides of the Atlantic.
Questions this sector asks first
The general position on each. What applies to you depends on where you live, where the work is done and who pays.
Many are exempt. Payment, lending and certain other financial services are exempt from VAT, while software licences and data services are usually standard rated. A business with both has to split the VAT on its costs, because VAT related to exempt income cannot be recovered in full.
The shareholders do. A US person holding 10% or more generally files Form 5471 each year, and where US shareholders together control the company its income can be taxed on them as it arises. The company is normally asked to provide accounts in a form that supports those filings.
Where the work seeks an advance in technology and resolves a real technical uncertainty, yes. Building a product on established methods does not qualify. The claim is made in the company tax return with an additional information form, and first-time claimants must notify HMRC within six months of the period end.
A US corporation files a federal return and returns in each state where it operates, from its first year, even with no profit. Staff bring payroll registrations. A US company that is 25% or more foreign-owned also files Form 5472 to report transactions with its UK parent.
