US UKTax Experts

Two tax systems.
Filed as one.

US UK Tax Experts prepares and files US and UK tax returns together, for Americans in the UK, UK residents with US income, and businesses operating in both countries.

Master both sides of the Atlantic

Close the gap between IRS and HMRC rules with one team that speaks both. Compliance handled, reliefs claimed, no surprises.

“As a US citizen living in London, I was overwhelmed by filing in both countries. This team made the entire process seamless and kept me fully compliant with both the IRS and HMRC.”

Both returns, prepared as one

Preparation
1
team preparing both your returns
2
countries filed together, not separately

Your US and UK returns prepared by the same people, so the foreign tax credits, treaty claims and FBAR filed in one country line up with what was filed in the other. Accurate, on time, and without the same income taxed twice.

Questions we are asked before anyone signs anything

The ones that come up in almost every first call. If yours is not here, ask it below.

If you are a US citizen or green card holder, yes. The US taxes on citizenship, not residence, so the obligation follows you regardless of where you live or where the income arises. Paying UK tax does not remove the filing requirement, though it usually reduces or removes what is actually owed.

Usually not, if the position is claimed correctly. The US UK treaty, the foreign tax credit and the foreign earned income exclusion exist to stop the same income being taxed in both places. Which of them applies, and which leaves you better off, depends on the type of income and where you are resident. They are not interchangeable and the wrong choice can cost you.

It is a report of foreign financial accounts, filed with FinCEN rather than the IRS. It is triggered if your non-US accounts together exceeded $10,000 at any point in the year, even for a single day, and even if no account is anywhere near that on its own. It is separate from your tax return, and the penalties for missing it are severe enough that it is worth checking rather than assuming.

This is common and there is a route back. The IRS streamlined procedures exist for people whose failure to file was not wilful, and they generally resolve the back years without penalties. Coming forward yourself is treated very differently from being found, so the position is usually better than people fear when they call.

One team is the point. Most cross-border problems are not caused by a difficult rule but by a decision taken correctly in one country by someone who could not see the consequence in the other. We work both sets of filings from the same file, so a relief claimed with HMRC is checked against what it does at the IRS before it is claimed.

A call to understand where you are: which countries you have income or assets in, what has been filed and what has not, and what is coming up. You will leave it knowing what needs to be filed, where, and by when. We will tell you if your position is simpler than you think, and we will tell you if it is not.
